Thanksgiving

Fun with my wonderful second, third and fourth cousins in Indianapolis!  We sang and played instruments, and had enthusiastic competitive games! Several ran in the "Turkey  Trot"!

Gypsy Hill Park & UVA Game blog Nov 13

A sunny day at Gypsy Hill Park.  You've got to love the duck pond!  If you put a nickel in the dispenser you can get food to give them.

UVA football game featuring a wonderful marching band at half time. Some outstanding high school band members got to play with them!

Veterans' Day

This beautiful fall morning I attended a special Veterans' Day program at our weekly ShenandoahValley Kiwanis Club. It was very inspiring to hear a retired General speak.  Our club meets at Rowe's Family Restaurant, a  Staunton and Augusta County landmark since the 1940's, renowned for its home cooking and delicious bakery items.

Tuesday night jazz at Sorrell's Lounge in the beautiful  Stonewall Jackson Hotel, featuring the mellow sounds of Bert Carlson and Jennifer Kirkland. Don't miss this - it's like having the weekend on Tuesday!

Breathtaking "purple mountain majesties" view of the Alleghanies from the Churchville area, 8 miles west of Staunton.







Trinity Episcopal Church

Trinity Episcopal Church with a colorful history: the House of Burgesses met here when they hastily fled from Williamsburg to escape the British. Legend has it that Patrick Henry lost his boot here.   It’s noted for Tiffany stained glass windows and an outstanding organ.

Out in beautiful Augusta County in the mountainous Crimora Mines area.  Tall timbers and rugged country with great mountain views!

Realtors’ Open House

Realtors’ Open House held at beautiful historic home at 4577 Rockfish Road, near Weyers Cave, Va. Imagine!  Stonewall Jackson marched his men up the driveway!  Has been featured in Southern Living magazine and on the Garden Tour. See on my webpage at:  www.judyarmstrong.com

Halloween Cont.

Sunday was a “fun” day. My daughter and her friend were visiting so we had brunch at Mill Street Grill, a favorite restaurant famous for its huge portions of delicious ribs.

Sunday evening gave way to Hallowe’en so I joined the throngs of cleverly costumed ghosts and ghouls on famous Sherwood Ave. and went to a great open house which has become an annual celebration and afterwards went to a friend’s house for a truly gourmet dinner amidst much door-bell ringing and candy distribution!  Long live Hallowe’en

Monday I went to the peaceful Parnassus area to pull out the signs in front of an interesting 25 acre farm I sold. It features a big horse barn and marvelous mountain views at the top most point.  Our countryside is so beautiful!
